Maifest

Maifest, or Beltane, marks the turning of the year into its proper natural fullness. The restraint of early spring finally gives way to a living and abundant connection, and the continuation of life. Flowering begins in earnest, and the processes that sustain life (pairing, and pollination / fertilization) become visible and undeniable; a reality woven into the very fabric of the world. Thus growth pushes outward, life expands, and desire draws beings into connection.

This moment unfolds within the sacred rhythm of the Counting of the Omer, especially as it speeds towards Lag B'Omer — a time already associated with fire, growth, and a loosening of restraint. The balance first revealed at the equinox, however, must now be maintained within movement- requiring discernment rather than restraint alone. In this moment of union and expansion, the question is no longer what is beginning, but whether one is prepared to care for what is now growing.
