The Spiritual Compass

The subject of synchronicity of the self is the subject of the alignment of your heart, mind, and soul. But how to create and foster such synchronicity within ourselves is a much harder question to answer. But it all comes down to one thing: Love.

Love for other human beings is a sacred element of faith, because in its deepest essence, love forms the very bedrock of humility and compassion; when you begin to perceive the inner and outer beauty in every human being, it becomes impossible to think of your own beauty as a separate or significant reality; you simply see it as the same whisper of Divinity that you find within every other face and heart you look at.

A major spiritual challenge, however, is to develop this awareness without becoming consumed by it. There’s a very simple practice that helps in this regard, however: Pushing yourself to simply live as mindfully and presently as you can; consciously striving to take in each moment with total reverence and complete presence, the way a child does. To permit yourself to be thoroughly human in each moment; to freely, openly delight in the presence of others, and to rejoice in the brief moments and experiences you have with them.

Thus exists the Spiritual Compass, too, which allows us to identify where we are struggling and ‘correct course’, or manifest the desired traits. In the spiritual compass the needle is one’s choices, emotions, and actions. The magnetic field we attempt to align the needle with in the process of synchronicity is love- Divine or spiritual, or even Universal.

Perspective is the sum of Truth and Compassion.

But to unlock Truth, you must access Creation and Perspective.

Vulnerability is the result of Compassion and Trust.

But to unlock Compassion one must have Perspective and Vulnerability.

Courage is the result of Trust and Passion.

But to unlock Trust one must be Vulnerable and have Courage.

Creation is the sum of Passion and Truth.

But to unlock Passion, one must have Courage and Creation.

Love has a way of taking people out of their own minds by giving them the incentive to become fully immersed in the present moment.

The mindfulness of love thus prepares the human soul to experience worship as a whole more deeply; the more accustomed we are to being mindfully immersed in the present, the more we cease to worry about the future and grieve about the past. The less our mind ricochets between concern for past and future, the better able we are to show up and meet Divinity in the present. Love frees us to meet the Divine in that liminal, ungraspable space that exists beyond concrete points of time, and in those precious, delineated moments throughout the day when He has asked us for our undivided attention.

This is ultimately the point and intent of following Wiccan ethics. Not only to heal the world, ourselves, and those around us, but to bring ourselves into greater synchronicity with the Divine.
