The Witch’s Ring

Start by lighting a fire in the Lord’s name, and bless it with ‘good and sweet smelling smoke’.

At the edge of the fire’s light, starting at the north and moving anti-sunwise, into the ground inscribe a ring with the edge of your Staff. As you draw, call upon your Familiar’s Spirit to com, sanctify, and delineate the space.

At each compass point, stop to place a candle to ‘light the roads’; light the flame, then cast a pinch of dirt to the direction.

Return to the center and breathe in the powers of the roads you’ve opened. Draw them into the space; rattles, drums, or bells may be well empowered for this purpose.

The ring may be closed when the staff is struck on the ground thrice and thanks are given to the Familiar for holding the space. Thanks are then given at the compass points going anti-sunwise, starting in the west. The fire is then doused, and the Ring physically swept away.
