Esbat Hallowing Rite

Before lighting the candles, dip your hands into a bowl of Rose Water and “wash” them thoroughly all the way up to the wrist while praying:

May this water cleanse and support my energy, and replace all dust and dirt with holy purity.

Next, get the candles ready and pray the following over them:

Blessed are you, Sovereign of Earth and Universe, and source of light and truth. How good, and pleasant, and lovely I am because of your making.

Light the candles, now, and as you light them, recite the first portion of the next prayer:

I come to the sanctuary and kindle this light before you in order to affirm the sacredness of my life. May I enter this sacred time in peace, free of my burdens; help me to withdraw now and allow me to learn to pause- if only for this night.

Meditate on the candle or a moment, then recite the final portion of the prayer:

By this blessed light, aid me in discovering the knowledge by which to live; lead me to take it into my heart and allow it to illuminate my life.
