Estendran Ritual Offerings

Of solid food, the offering is Fereh [f-ehr-eh], and breads, grains, fresh herbs, cuts of wild game, or fresh fruit should be offered up;

Of liquid food and non-drink, the offering is Leferes [leh-fehr-ehs], and honey, blood, or yoghurt should be offered up;

Of drink, the offering is Lether [leh-th-ehr], and tea, good spirits, or water should be offered up.

Of items that are not the above, offerings are Jirin [Jeer-eehn], and cloth, flowers, scented items (such as incense or wax cubes), icons, statuary, votives, jewelry, wood, oils, perfumes, or artistic items may be offered up.

To Ritually Give Offerings

The following ritual outline is advised to be followed on a new or full moon, once monthly; Leferes, Fereh, and Lether are preferable above all as offerings, in that order.

  1. To set the space, produce a low-table- on which an altar is to be placed, and at which the offerings will be made- and ready it for the offering with decorations of choice. Then to purify the devotee bathes or showers themself, then applies a pleasantly scented lotion or oil to their skin. Afterwards, adorns a ritualistic garb set aside only for this occasion, and proceeds to the area of the offering.

    The space is then marked as working by a small chime of a bell or tapping of an instrument gently on glass to produce a similar sound.

  2. To give the offering, kneel and place the items on the low altar. Remove a portion from the main offering and set aside for the death related entities and spirits (not to be consumed by the devotee) and proceed however desired- as in prayer or other methodology- to make clear the offer and any other actions desired.
  3. Entities are considered to have consumed the energetic essence of an item- therefore leaving the item safe for consumption by the devotee after an allotted period of time (20 minutes), without chance of angering the entities the items are offered to- except within the case of offerings made to those aspects related to death, which then transcend our realm and should not be consumed.

    Before closing, consume the main portion of the offering, and package the remaining portion to be buried, burnt, or otherwise disposed of.

  4. Then, to close, stand and step back to a comfortable distance, bow, and mark the space as non-working with another chime of a small bell, or the tapping of an instrument on glass to produce a similar sound.

To Give Non-Ritual Offerings

The following outline is advised to be followed once weekly at minimum; Jirin may be offered — Leferes, Fereh, and Lether are not necessary unless desired.

  1. The devotee provides a slight dusting and cleaning of the shrines, and readies the offerings to be given. To purify themselves, only the hands are washed in a small bowl of water- preferably with rose water, but it is not necessary- and then dried before proceeding to the shrines.

    The space is marked as working by the chime of a small bell, or through the tapping of an instrument gently on glass to provide a similar sound.

  2. Offerings are made to the entities. After the offering, a prayer is uttered if wished, or one may spend a few moments in reflection. Neither are required, however.
  3. To close, step back to a comfortable distance and bow to the shrines before turning to leave.
