A Reflection on Personal Values

Nature

Plants, animals, landscapes, and other features produced by the Earth naturally- as opposed to being artificially constructed; this does not disregard Human activity within, or change to, these landscapes for their benefit.

Beauty

Aspects of shape, color, form, and design which please the aesthetic sensibilities, as well as the senses- especially the sense of sight; also refers to health, hygiene, and wellness, and the action of taking care of one’s self.

Introspection

The examination of one’s own mental and emotional processes and beliefs, as well as how they measure up to current knowledge, and how they fit into the greater universal model of belief.

Respect

Special regard or deference, or a deep admiration, elicited by a person’s abilities, qualities, or achievements.

Politeness and Consideration

Behavior that is respectful and considerate of others, or is otherwise careful not to cause undue hurt or needless inconvenience.

Responsibility

The state of being in charge of something, or of being accountable for something or someone- and of taking that duty and accountability seriously.

Accountability

An obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one’s actions and words- whether good or ill.

Realism

The quality of viewing, representing, and accepting something as exactly what it is, accurately, in that circumstance and moment- and dealing with it accordingly.

Pragmatism

A habit of approaching problems in a way which assesses their truth and practicality, and acting or deciding on further action accordingly.

Centrism

The political and social ideology that genuine solutions to ills require realism and pragmatism based on legitimate, validatable scientific data, and which place human rights and long term solutions above all personal desires, beliefs, and ideological, community, etc, lines.

Balance

To create an even distribution of qualities or proportions in an effort to produce stability among many factors at once.

Simplicity

Freedom from pretense; uncomplicated and uncompounded; easy to understand or do.

Affection and Attentiveness

Readily showing a feeling of fondness or tenderness towards others; paying close attention and attending to the comfort or wishes of others.

Service

The action of performing work for others out of selflessness, because it brings one personal or spiritual joy and fulfillment to do so.

Relaxation and Recreation

To achieve a state free of anxiety or tension- and to participate in activities done for pleasure, leisure, and enjoyment- as opposed to making money, or for a similar commercial or other purpose of gain.
