Magic, the Earth, and Divinity

Deity is both within ourselves and manifests within the totality of the Universe and all of nature. There is nothing which isn’t Divine, or at least of the Divine. This religion, as a result of being terrestrially oriented and experienced, therefore consists in large part of a reverence for nature as a manifestation of the Divine; when we lose touch with the Earth, and even with ourselves, we therefore lose touch with Divinity as a result.

It is vital that we establish and maintain relationships with the Divine, and with the Divine Spark within all of us. Prayer, especially, sets up a regular line of communication and can act as a positive, supportive tool of one's everyday life. Thus we should strive to make Prayer a daily occurrence; a short prayer when rising in the morning, before or after meals, and before sleep, are all appropriate times. But they can be said at many times throughout the day. Especially in recognition of the Earthly blessings of nature.

It is imperative to the process, however, that you open yourself fully to the Divine (or to the other receptive objects) during both Prayer, and during Ritual; too many people simply say the words and never check their effectiveness for themselves. Don’t just say the words emptily yourself. Truly focus, and pray with Kavanah (intention). Invite their presence to you ... Stretch out with your own awareness and know them.

Rituals in particular are magical ceremonies which are carried out in order to commune with Divinity, and to strengthen and celebrate our connection to (and relationship with) the Divine, the Earth, and its Spirits. Effective ritual is that which allows us to slip between altered states of consciousness and awareness, allowing for more meaningful communion and communication. This allows the practitioner to expand their knowledge and power, and better come to understand the Universe and their own place within and connection to it.

Performing magic is itself a religious act through which practitioners unite the Divine and the Divine Spark within all of us, with the genuine energies which reside within our own Earth and its natural products (trees, stones, flame, water, herbs and scents- all of which, and more, have their own unique energies which may be utilized), in order to move natural energies of the Earth and the Universe to effect a desired change; to exact their own creation within the Universe in accordance with their own will, in an act of co-creation with Divinity.

In our religion, magic is largely used first to sanctify and define a sacred space for communion with the Divine. Then, secondly, to improve both ourselves and the world around us. In general, it is not a tool of forcing nature or others to your will- but one of healing and aid, positive growth, and transformation; a tool which brings the inherent Divine a little closer to the surface with each use.

Ideally, as well, our religion should permeate all elements of our life; even when we are not lighting candles and casting circles for ritual, religion isn’t (and shouldn't be) limited simply to the performance of Ritual and magic, and the occasional Prayer.
