Blessing of the Head
To start, place three fingers of each hand into the prepared water (which should be 3 parts clear Spring Water to .5 parts Rose Water and .5 parts Orange Blossom Water, renewed every month on the Esbat). Then place the fingers in the middle of your forehead and draw them from the center, across the top, and down the back of your head to the base of your neck. Repeat the motion three times as you pray:
With HaShem’s guidance I bless my head, and the Soul and its spiritual energy which resides within it.
Redip your fingers and draw them from the center of your forehead out to each side:
I bless my spiritual vision, that I may see my way clearly on the path that HaShem has laid before me.
After dipping fingers again, simultaneously stroke each eye gently outward with the corresponding hand; right hand, right eye; left hand, left eye:
Stroke each nostril after redipping, then the bridge of your nose from top to bottom.
Again, after dipping, stroke each ear with your fingertips.
Stroke your lips from the center outward next, after redipping.
Finally, stroke the circular outline of your face from the center of the forehead around to your chin.
Wrap your head with the day’s veil, or otherwise bind your hair. Put on any jewelry you’re going to wear for the day at this point, too. Then redip your fingers in the pot again, drawing your fingers from the center of your forehead across the top of it and down the back of your head to the base of your neck. Repeat the motion three times, as if repeating the first steps of the blessing.
I bless my head to protect and guide me throughout the day. May I be an expression of Divine light through its guidance and glorify HaShem’s many great names. Amein.
