Thrice Herbal Hosts

Their natures are made clear in that while He is the Wild Earth and Nature, She is Cultivation and Nurture: That which is provided, and that which we make of it. Past and Present simultaneously ... When combined, however, they produce the Future: The Hosts, their Children; that which can come to be.

The Verdant Host and Rustic Host are born of the Great Union of the Lady and the Lord: Limited, non-transcendent, (mostly) impersonal Spirits which both embody and are embodied by natural phenomenon, and are therefore imminent themselves within those phenomenon; true embodiments of the Earth and the Earth Cycle; Land Spirits.

The Verdant Host refers the children of Lord of the Soil and the Lady of the Well, born of the Garden and its Solar-Struck Plots of Knowledge. They control the Cultivated Green- associating its Spirits with the Great Queen.

The Rustic Host are their siblings born of the Moon-Struck Plots. They therefore control the Wild Green- thus associating these Spirits with the Unknown King.

Both are watered deeply from the Wellspring Eternal; the deep green unfurlment of leaves bearing the many-faced fruits of otherworldly knowledge on which the Verderer feasts.

The Perambulatory Watchers are the Elemental Kings; children of the Lord of the Soil and the Lady of the Well which are neither Verdant nor Rustic; born of neither the Lunar nor the Solar Plots of Knowledge, but of the third which is illuminated by both Lunar and Solar simultaneously and exalted.

Belonging to both and yet neither in equal measure all the same, they are numbered in four and set to rule above all within the Hosts in order to guard the Garden from intruders. Pacers of the Hedge; Boundary Beaters; each is associated with not only a gate to the Garden, but to a gate's corresponding virtue, as well as to an Element (which is in turn associated with their corresponding gate by proxy).
